I wanted to practice with some lights the other night and had this concept of warriors in traditional garb and weaponry. My buddy Dan and I shot this in my living room. The final product wasn’t really close to anything traditional, but it was fun to play around with the idea. Here are a few frames from the shoot.
I got a week of summer vacation before starting at the Skagit Valley Herald. I spent some of that time across the mountains. My friend and roommate, Andy Jaeger, invited us to his family’s property along the Wenatchee River. It was a great place to relax and do nothing for awhile. By nothing I mean drink beer and work on my “tan”. Woodland adventures and sleeping under the stars are exactly what I needed! I can’t wait to spend more time there. Happy Father’s Day! During my internship I worked on a story that started with Muay Thai Kickboxing at Total Confidence Martial Arts. I found an interesting fighter who was a nurse that worked a graveyard shift at a nursing home. I put time after hours photographing her training.
When it came to her fight day at the Battle in Bellingham, her opponent was a no show (yippee..) I scrambled and found a fighter from the same gym, by the name of Darren Benson. To my surprise it ended up to be the Blaine Middle School principal.
I shot it in March and they decided to hold the story until now. Here is the final product that turned into an audioslideshow and the story.
