Winter Getaway

CabinWinter121512

The boys and I at Emerald have been pretty busy the last couple of weeks so it was time to for a getaway. We were graciously hosted by our buddy, Andy, in Plain, Washington. It was nice to be in a different environment despite my weakness to cold weather. The weekend went by quick but the snow, brews, and change of scenery did us good!

Salon de DASSdance

I was asked by a friend to photograph Salon de DASSdance an event where I enjoyed an evening of live music, fine art, dance performances by DASSdance and the Can Can Castaways, a bar and free food. What more can a young boy ask for! Here are some shots from the amazing dance performances. The Salon is held the first Monday of the month at Washington Hall in the Central District. Come to the next one and buy me a drink!

Pike Place Market

I got up early and drove to Pike Place Market to catch some early light. The morning always has a sense of calm and quiet that I find comforting.

Lapse in time

I have been pretty busy working with my designer on getting a new look to the website. Check out the galleries! I’m sure you have noticed some changes, if not you’re blind and have no business looking at a photoblog :)

Recently, I took a trip to my friends property on the Wenatchee river. I took this long exposure just as the sun went down and the stars came out. You don’t get that many opportunities photographing stars in the city so this was a fun challenge. I only got a few chances at this with exposures up to 30 minutes. Man that was a pain hoping that something would come out! Anyone who knows me knows that I have little to no patience so this was a good exercise. Now I know what I can do better next time. Do you have any good star photos? If so leave me a comment!

A Queen’s Bath

This natural wonder in Kauai is one of the easiest to get to with a big reward. It is a short walk over a lava shelf and you find yourself in a naturally occurring pool of water at the shore. The water is crystal clear with some sweet snorkeling.
