After about a month of craptastic weather we finally caught a break. I ventured off to Blanchard Mountain and saw these paragliders flying through the air (of course I neglected to bring my long glass). It was amazing to see these guys soaring through the sky like birds. Catching air currents to gain altitude as they dipped up and down from the earth. Apparently you can spend all day in the sky if the weather permitted. I did not realize that they actually take off and land on the mountain. I shot a couple of frames of Bellingham native Roger Brock, just after he touched down on the mountain. Hopefully I’ll get to photograph him again in the future. Click on for more
Roger Brock of Bellingham soars in the air just off of Blanchard Mountain on March 25, 2009. Brock says that you can stay in the air all day, but cautions the eager thrill seeker. “This is one of those sports you gotta walk away from sometimes, even if its a nice Saturday.”

I love how you captured the oranges and reds in those pictures. Awesome shots!
Beautiful photos of Roger launching and flying. One missing ingredient. Roger always has his dog Luca with him. Luca runs back and forth beneath Rogere when he flies, he never takes his eyes off of Roger. He would have been an asset to the story and pictures. Terrific artical in the Adventure magazine. Thanks for putting in so much effort and endeavor for the pilotss of Whatcom county and thanks for Roger taking the time to help you in these shots. He is a careful and an expert pilot .
